The City Council will provide sidewalks for the section of the Benahavís road between the highway and Alquería Avenue.

The Consistory will respond to the neighborhood demand after obtaining the transfer of this area to the municipality with the approval of the Junta de Andalucía (Andalusian Regional Government)
The Estepona Town Hall has started the procedures to build the sidewalk of the section of the Benahavís road (A-7175) between the A-7 highway (Mar y Monte urbanization) and De la Alquería avenue. The Consistory already has the project and in the next few days will open the tender for the works.
The municipal initiative is adopted once the city has obtained the transfer and ownership of this section of 2,214 meters of land. The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure of the Ministry of Development, Land Development and Housing of the Andalusian Government approved a few months ago the act by which the ownership of this stretch of road has been modified, becoming the municipality of Estepona.
By virtue of this new condition, the Consistory wants to improve the whole area and will carry out the development of a sidewalk to ensure pedestrian traffic between the two points (from the A-7 to the avenue of La Alqueria) and in turn allow the connection of the various developments that converge in the environment. Thus, the construction of a sidewalk on the west side of the road will be put out to tender.
This is an action demanded by the residents of the area that now, once formalized the ownership of the land within the municipality of Estepona, can be addressed by the City Council.
The execution of these works will cost around 1.5 million euros, with an estimated completion period of four months.
On the other hand, the Estepona Town Hall continues to work on the project for the construction of a river path along the Guadalmina river. It is a path parallel to the river that will be pedestrian and bicycle friendly. The project foresees the construction of a path of almost 2.5 kilometers that will be connected to the coastal corridor section of Atalaya-Isdabe.
