The City Council will provide six municipal parks with new, more efficient and sustainable lighting.

The initiative includes the installation of scenic lighting in the Carmen Thyssen Park to enhance the environment.

The Estepona City Council has awarded the contract to renovate and modernize the outdoor lighting system of six municipal parks, in an initiative that aims to improve energy efficiency, enhance safety and promote a more sustainable and respectful of health and the environment lighting.

In total, 355 new high-performance LED luminaires will be installed in Constitution Park, Human Rights Park, Los Niños Park, Seghers Park, Carmen Thyssen Park and Huerta Nueva Park.

The project includes the replacement of existing luminaires and equipment with LED technology, as well as the execution of the necessary works and piping to ensure the proper functioning of the facilities. In addition, functional lighting will be installed in columns in all the parks and scenic lighting in the Carmen Thyssen Park to enhance its surroundings.

The project, divided into two lots, has been awarded for a total budget of 250,498 euros.

The design of the new lighting installation seeks to ensure safety and health while minimizing the impact on the environment. To this end, the emission of blue light at night will be reduced, favoring rest and protecting urban biodiversity. Luminaires of 3000K will be used as a reference, with reduced flux during off-peak hours and asymmetric optics to avoid intrusive light. In addition, glare will be controlled by means of appropriate photometry and mounting heights.

In sensitive areas, such as green areas and nearby habitats, priority will be given to precise beams and screens that limit light dispersion. A lighting study will establish levels of between 30 and 35 lux in transit and living areas, as well as time curves that adjust intensity according to actual use.

This project incorporates public health and environmental sustainability criteria, ensuring a balance between safety, visual comfort and respect for biodiversity. With this action, the Estepona City Council is moving forward in the modernization of its public lighting, promoting a more efficient, safe and sustainable city model.
