The City Council will renovate Plaza Colón with new paving, street furniture and infrastructure.

The action, which is currently under public bidding, is part of the Beautification Plan of the center that the Consistory has been carrying out.
The Estepona City Council is going to give continuity to the Beautification Plan of the city center with a remodeling that will focus on the Plaza Colón; specifically, in the area bounded by the streets Cristóbal Colón and María de Maeztu. The works are already in public bidding.
According to the works project, the area currently shows signs of deterioration, which is why a comprehensive intervention on a total area of 1,841 square meters has been chosen. The work will replace both the pavement and the rest of the current urban elements and street furniture.
The study of the state of the infrastructures has determined which of those already carried out, such as drainage, rainwater or street lighting, can be reused and what needs the area has for new material. Thus, it has been detected the need to replace the sewage networks, renewing the existing connections. Likewise, some rainwater connections will be made and scuppers will be added to collect rainwater from the streets. It is also planned to replace supply networks and connections.
New functional and ornamental elements will also be added to this space, such as green spaces, a fountain and a drinking fountain.
For the execution of this intervention an initial budget of 593,000 euros has been foreseen, although the final budget will be determined in the awarding of the works, in which the most advantageous offer for the City Council will be chosen.
This action is part of the plan for the improvement of roads in the urban area that the City Council has been implementing since 2011 and which has already benefited more than 130 streets. These projects are aimed at consolidating the transformation and modernization that the city has undergone.
