The City Council will urgently undertake a plan to repair the damage to urban roads caused by the rains

Municipal technicians and local police have already assessed the damage and have drawn up a map of the areas most affected by potholes and sinkholes where immediate action will be taken.
The Estepona City Council is working on an emergency intervention to repair the multiple damages that the heavy rains of recent weeks have caused in urban roads of the municipality. The repeated rainfall has left numerous potholes and potholes that may affect road traffic for drivers, so the Consistory has opted for the emergency route to undertake the necessary repairs.
Municipal technicians and Local Police have been evaluating the damage and locations on the ground. With this information, a map of the most affected areas has been obtained in which immediate action will be taken, explains the deputy mayor for Infrastructure, Development and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco. Among the areas located and collected in the report issued are some as Litoral Avenue, Puerta del Mar, Huerta Nueva or traffic circles at the entrance to the city and the polygon, or Avenida del Carmen, among others. In total, more than twenty points, both in the town and in the suburbs, which have suffered the harshness of the rainstorms that have hit the city in succession.
This intervention will be completed with the VI Plan of Asphalting, which this year will focus on streets of Extrarradio, and whose start of work is pending the meteorological improvement and the passage of episodes of rainfall.
On the other hand, the City Council of Estepona has been demanding the central government to undertake a comprehensive and urgent intervention for the repair of the road surface of the A-7 highway, a key infrastructure for mobility throughout the Costa del Sol, and that has major flaws such as large potholes and potholes, which jeopardize the safety of thousands of drivers who travel daily through this point. Likewise, it has been urged to urgently repair the damages located on the service roads of this highway in the section corresponding to the municipality of Estepona. However, the ministry headed by Óscar Puente has indicated that the implementation of a comprehensive action in the area lacks a project, planning and budget to date.
