The Concert Pasodoble ‘Passion for Music’ by Christiaan Janssen will open the second date of the Municipal Band’s summer season.

The concert will take place on Sunday, July 21 at the Plaza del Reloj with free access. The concerts will take place every Sunday in the same place, until concluding on August 25 in the Plaza del Ajedrez, with the concert ‘El Baúl de los 70’, with Serafín Zubiri.

Estepona City Council reports that the Municipal Band will perform next Sunday, July 21, at 21.00 pm, the second concert of the summer season. It will be in the Musical Enclosure Maestro Navarro Mollor, located in the emblematic Plaza del Reloj. The program is entitled: ‘Passion for Music’, title of the Pasodoble de Concierto by the Dutch conductor, composer, arranger and organist Christiaan Janssen, recent winner of the III Composition Contest for Symphonic Band ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ with the Suite for Band ‘Impressions of Estepona’, inspired by the city.

The fifteenth season of the BME, under the direction and artistic direction of maestro José Antonio López Camacho, kicked off last Sunday in Cancelada. During the seven free performances included in this cycle will be interpreted by the Municipal Band of Estepona more than fifty works including pasodobles, soundtracks of television series and films, great classical and musical works, operetta, modern popular music …

The following performances will take place every Sunday in the central Plaza del Reloj, ending on August 25 in the Plaza del Ajedrez with the concert ‘El Baúl de los 70’, with the singer Serafín Zubiri.

As in each edition, each of the concerts will end with the interpretation of the Hymn of Estepona, with lyrics and music by the remembered maestro Manuel Navarro Mollor.

The origin of the Estepona Band dates back to 1940, performing uninterruptedly since then, making it one of the oldest band formations in the country. On its 75th anniversary, the City Council awarded it the Gold Medal of the City.
