The Estepona Orchidarium has received more than half a million visits since its opening ten years ago.

The Botanical Park, consolidated as one of the main tourist attractions of the municipality, has the largest collection of orchids in Spain and one of the most important in Europe.
The Estepona City Council reports that the Botanical-Orchidarium Park of Estepona, inaugurated in March 2015, has completed its first decade of life consolidated as one of the main tourist attractions of Estepona. This is endorsed by the figures of visitors who, during this period, have reached half a million entries.
With more than 3,000 species of plants, of which about 1,500 are orchids, this municipal facility has the largest collection in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. It has become one of the most important stops on the routes that visitors to the city design during their stay, and one of the attractions most valued by the neighbors.
Visitor records indicate that most of the users are from Spain. Among them are also counted those registered in Estepona, to whom the City Council grants two invitations per year. European citizens also stand out: Germans, French, English, Finns, Italians and Swedes. In the data also highlight the visits of citizens of the United States, Argentina, China and Morocco.
It was during the past year 2024 when the Botanical Orchid Park of Estepona reached its record number of visits, exceeding 54,000. It is the spring season, coinciding with the flowering season of many of the species that are housed, which has been recording a higher number of visitors. The Botanical-Oquidarium Park of Estepona is in constant transformation. It is divided into two levels on different levels, with a surface area of 1,000 square meters and a volume of 15,000 cubic meters. The building has three glass-covered domes that have become its hallmark and have completely changed the appearance of the municipality. The main dome of the building houses dozens of species of orchids and a large waterfall that surprises visitors who observe the dome from the inside.
The exterior of the building has a large green lung of more than 15,000 square meters in the heart of the city. The execution of this project allowed for the complete transformation of this space, providing it with this unique facility and this large park that are part of the sustainable urban development project ‘Estepona, garden of the Costa del Sol’. Its opening had a spectacular reception by the residents of Estepona, registering during its first week of activity more than 35,000 visits.
The objectives of the Estepona Orchidarium are, on the one hand, the conservation of its botanical collection and, on the other hand, its cultural projection through the promotion of information, communication and promotion of the botanical heritage of the city of Estepona through individual or group visits, with the character of a municipal public service of general interest.
