The IV Intercenter Solidarity Badminton Meeting brought together 150 high school students.
The competition raised funds that will be used for the special therapies needed by little Jadow.
The Estepona City Council reports that the IV Intercenters Solidarity Badminton Meeting, which was held on Tuesday, November 5, gathered at the Sports Center El Carmen about 150 students in 3rd and 4th of ESO of the IES Mar de Alborán, Mediterráneo, Monterroso and Profesor Hormigo, as well as secondary students of the Juan XXIII School.
The IV Intercentros Solidarity Badminton Meeting has been organized by the City Council of Estepona, together with the associations Alejandro Navarro Deportista and UBUNTU Estepona, and the Badminton Club Estepona. It has also had the technical assistance of the Estepona Badminton Club and more than 30 high school students from IES Mediterráneo, who acted as referees and volunteers.
During the first three hours of the tournament, each participating pair played the 4/5 matches corresponding to the League Phase.
After the finals, the results were as follows:
Category 3º ESO (FEM)
– Champions: Elena Pérez González and Remedios Sofía Maldonado Mena (IES Monterroso)
– Runners-up: Reham Vázquez El Marrouni and Marta Vargas Márquez (Monterroso Secondary School).
Category 4º ESO (FEM)
– Champions: Tamara Corrales López and Zhenni Huang (IES Monterroso)
– Runners-up: Lucía Gil de Haro and Sara Contreras Martínez (IES Mar Alborán)
Category 3º ESO (MASC)
– Winners: Manuel Aitor Eslava Díaz and Oliver García Medel (IES Prof. Tomás Hormigo)
– Runners-up: David Yuste Hidalgo and Francisco Bernal Ordóñez (IES Prof. Tomás Hormigo)
Category 4º ESO (MASC)
– Champions: Andrés Cintado and Sidd Malhotra (Juan XXIII-Fund. Victoria).
– Runners-up: Hugo Calvente García and Álvaro Gavira López (IES Mediterráneo).
As a final act, the coordinator of the competition and coach of the Badminton Club Estepona, Lucas Carmona; the representative of UBUNTU, Antonio Rodríguez; the president of AND, Alejandro Navarro; and the rest of the Physical Education teachers of the participating centers, presented the trophies to the finalists, as well as t-shirts, a gift from the Badminton Club.
It is worth mentioning the charitable nature of this event, which this year has aimed to raise funds for the therapies needed by the little Jadow, a primary school student of the Simon Fernandez School. In the middle of the day, the Ubuntu and AND associations presented Jadow’s family with the proceeds from the registration and the sale of the solidarity pendants.
