The mayor makes an institutional visit to the Czech city of Brno to advance in the twinning with Estepona

The mayor, José María García Urbano, is making an institutional visit to the Czech city of Brno with the aim of further advancing the twinning with Estepona. After the visit that took place last April by Czech authorities to Estepona, the alderman pledged to meet this municipality that shares objectives and challenges with the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol’.

In that sense, García Urbano stressed that both Brno and Estepona are particularly committed to the preservation of the environment and the implementation of initiatives that contribute to recover spaces for pedestrians and to expand the number of green areas. In addition, both destinations are also committed to culture and sport to revitalize the cities.

The mayor explained that Brno, which is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, is known at European level for its historical defense of knowledge, which has led him to implement more than thirty faculties that host nearly 90,000 university students each year.

José María García Urbano thanked the first deputy mayor of Brno, René Cerny, and his government team for the attention received during the visit and noted that both cities will work on future joint actions. In this regard, he recalled that Estepona and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Spain have held cultural events together to publicize the artistic wealth of this Slavic country. Thus, he commented that both countries share a historical past where good relations have always prevailed.
