The Municipal Band commemorates the centenary of Texidor’s pasodoble ‘Amparito Roca’ in the second concert of the summer season.

The monographic concert, dedicated to original music for bands, will take place on Sunday, July 27, at 21:00 hours, in the Plaza del Reloj, with free access, and will end with the symphonietta ‘Estepona, the City of Flowers’ by Hugo Chinesta, recent winner of the IV International Composition Competition for Symphonic Band.
The Estepona City Council informs that the Municipal Band will perform next Sunday, July 27, at 21:00 hours, the second concert of the summer season, with a monographic of original music for band.
It will be at the Recinto Musical Mtro. Navarro Mollor, located in the emblematic Plaza del Reloj, with a program that will begin with the pasodoble ‘Amparito Roca’ by Jaime Texidor Dalmau, on the occasion of the centenary of its composition, and will end with the interpretation of ‘La Plaza de las Flores’, final passage of the sinfonietta for wind and percussion orchestra ‘Estepona, the City of Flowers’, composed by Hugo Chinesta, recent winner of the IV International Composition Competition for Symphonic Band ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’.
The sixteenth season of the BME under the direction and artistic direction of maestro José Antonio López Camacho, kicked off last Sunday in Cancelada. During the six free performances included in this cycle, the Municipal Band of Estepona will perform more than fifty works, including pasodobles, soundtracks of television series and films, great classical and musical works, zarzuelas, modern popular music…
The following performances will take place every Sunday in the central Plaza del Reloj, until concluding on August 24 in the Plaza del Ajedrez, with the monographic concert dedicated to Miguel Ríos ‘Bienvenidos’, with the singer Serafín Zubiri.
The origin of the Estepona Band dates back to 1940, performing uninterruptedly since then, making it one of the oldest band formations in the country. On its 75th anniversary, the City Council awarded it the Gold Medal of the City.
