The Municipal Band of Estepona will pay tribute to Manuel López Farfán with the performance of the march ‘La estrella sublime’ on its centenary.
The XIII Concert ‘Portico de la Semana Santa’ will take place on Sunday 30, at 18.00 hours, in the Auditorio Felipe VI. It will feature a repertoire of saetas by the Sevillian artist Joana Jiménez.
The Estepona City Council reports that next Sunday, March 30, at 18.00 hours, will take place in the Felipe VI Auditorium the celebration of the XIII Concert ‘Portico de la Semana Santa’ which, since 2011, established in the town the artistic department of the Municipal Band of Estepona (BME).
Led by its titular and artistic director, maestro José Antonio López Camacho, the Municipal Band returns to one of its usual stages with a new concert, which will begin with ‘Rey de Reyes’, by Mariano San Miguel Urcelay, and will end with the performance of the processional march with cornet ‘La estrella sublime’, composed in 1925 by Manuel López Farfán (1872-1944), in the version revised and edited in 2005 by José Antonio López Camacho.
In addition, the concert will feature the participation of the Sevillian artist Joana Jiménez, who will perform a repertoire of saetas.
