The Municipal Climbing Wall will host the 3rd round of the Andalusian Cup of Block Climbing’25.

The event will take place on March 29 and 30, organized by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking, and the Estepona Mountain Group, in collaboration with the City Council.
The councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil, and the representative of the Mountain Group Estepona GRUME, Francisco Jimenez, have presented the third round of the Andalusian Cup Climbing Block’25, to be held in the Municipal Climbing Wall, located in the Fair and Sports Grounds, the next 29 and 30 March.
The municipal responsible has explained that the test is organized by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking and Mountain Group Estepona, GRUME, with the collaboration of the City of Estepona, and sponsored by the Provincial Council of Malaga. In addition, he reported that this day, “which is expected to be very attractive”, will bring together more than 200 athletes of all ages
For his part, the representative of GRUME explained that on Saturday morning 29, will participate athletes categories Benjamin (between 6 and 9 years) and fry (between 10 and 11 years), and in the afternoon, the categories Children (between 12 and 13) and cadet (between 14 and 15 years), both female and male. Also, on Sunday 30 in the morning, athletes will compete in the categories of promotion (16 years or older; this category may be mixed), youth (between 16 and / or 17 years), junior U-20 (between 18 and / or 19 years), absolute (from 16 not assigned to the above categories) and veteran (from 25 years, not assigned to the absolute category). There will be trophies for the first three classified in each category.
The Estepona climbing wall, the largest of its kind outdoors in Spain, is located in the Fair and Sports Grounds and became operational in March last year. The activities are carried out by professionals of the Club Grupo de Montaña de Estepona (GRUME), a well-known entity in the municipality that has been training in the municipal climbing wall of the El Carmen Sports Center since 2005. This entity, which is registered with the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking, has a climbing school that will now be expanded with more workshops and courses in the new facilities.
The climbing wall has been designed for the following practices: difficulty mode, speed mode and block mode. It has a complete surface of 662 square meters, divided for the practice of the different modalities foreseen in this discipline: speed zone (115 square meters), difficulty zone (363 square meters) and bouldering zone (184 square meters).
