The Padre Manuel Cultural Center hosts the musical presentation of the poetry book ‘Guiños en el Alma’ by Miguel López Ramírez from Estepona.
The event will take place on Friday, October 18, at 8:00 pm, with free access until full capacity is reached. The local actor and poet will be accompanied by baritone David Geary and pianist Mari Carmen Pérez.
The Estepona City Council informs that next Friday, October 18, at 20.00 hours, will take place at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center the musical presentation of the book ‘Winks in the Soul’, first collection of poems by the actor and poet Miguel López Ramírez, published this year.
It will not be an old-fashioned recital, but some of the poems in the book, in addition to being recited by the author, will be sung by baritone David Geary, the creator of the musical score composed for the occasion. He will be accompanied by his usual pianist, the Malaga-born Mari Carmen Pérez, with free access until full capacity is reached.
In ‘Winks in the Soul’, Miguel López fuses two of his passions: poetry and photography. As its title indicates, it aims to be a journey through the author’s “Sea of life”, delving into his experiences in love, family and his land, while showing us the result of his self-analysis as a person: “I am a sea of stealthy stillness, of impetuous bravura. In the swaying of my waves I mix songs”.
Miguel López Ramírez was born in Estepona in 1962 and is the eldest of three brothers. From a very young age he already showed his great love for theater and song. Although he is now retired, Miguel López began his professional career at the age of 18 in the Post Office, where he has worked all his life.
For forty years he has been a member of the Municipal Theater Group of Estepona ‘Farándula’, where he has played a great number of characters. In addition to numerous group awards, he has won three prizes: Best Actor in the Theater Contests of Campillos, Ardales and Olvera for the plays ‘La sombra del Tenorio’ and ‘Gaviotas subterráneas’. In his acting career he has also participated in five short films.
As for his literary facet, he is co-author of the poetry books ‘Con palabras’, ‘Ante el Amor’, ‘Voces solidarias’ and ‘Lírica Navidad’.
