The Peñas Blancas-Los Reales bicycle climb enters the ‘Mítica’ category of the Spanish Cycling Federation.

The Estepona City Council begins to install the signage approved by the Spanish Cycling Federation, which considers this cycling route as one of the most outstanding in the national panorama.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation has given the category of ‘Mítica’ to the Peñas Blancas-Los Reales bicycle climb. With this recognition, the cycling route becomes one of the most outstanding of the national scene for its unique characteristics in terms of distance, slope, gradient and altitude.
The councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil, has announced that the Consistory has begun installing the signage approved by the Spanish Cycling Federation with which cyclists will be informed that they are traveling a route considered ‘Mythical’.
“The great beauty and difficulty of this route, so appreciated by both professional and amateur athletes, have motivated the Spanish Cycling Federation to consider that this route deserves to enter this higher category,” said the municipal responsible.
The mayor has pointed out that this recognition also helps to increase the sporting, tourist and environmental offer of the city, as well as improving the competitiveness and excellence of Estepona as a tourist destination.
The installation of the signage is funded with a grant from the Tourist Municipalities of Andalusia (MUNITUR) program of the Junta de Andalucía. The informative devices to be placed will start at the traffic circle located on Los Reales Avenue, established as a starting point near kilometer 0, passing through the MA-8301 road and paths of the Natural Park of Los Reales de Sierra Bermeja known as Los Realillos, as well as adjacent areas.
The project includes the design of the content of the signage, the supply and installation of a total of 15 kilometer signs on the MA-8301 road, 40 by 40 centimeters with the information of the kilometer and average slope.
In addition, 6 kilometer signs will be placed in the Natural Park area, from point 15 to 20. Likewise, 7 information panels will be placed on the Peñas Blancas-Los Reales Mythical Ascent by bicycle in the following locations: Start, Kilometer 0, Puerto Kids summit, Homenaje al Ciclista summit, Peñas Blancas Gate, Los Reales, Salvador Guerrero Square and Las Antenas. All are presented in Spanish and English and with a QR code for those who wish to have more information about this route that is already considered ‘Mythical’ by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation.
