The Plenary of the City Council agrees to appoint communicator Carlos Moreno ‘El Pulpo’ and hotel businessman José Luis Carrillo as Adopted Sons of Estepona.
The Plenary of the City Council of Estepona has agreed today to name Adopted Sons of the city to the communicator Carlos Moreno ‘El Pulpo’ and the hotel businessman José Luis Carrillo.
The councilor attached to the area of Citizen Participation, Maria Aguilar, has indicated that Carlos Moreno, known as ‘El Pulpo’, is one of the most iconic radio voices of the national scene and one of the great communicators of our country. Born in Madrid in 1974, he has been linked to Estepona since he was five years old, a city that has witnessed his evolution and transcendental moments of his life. “He treasures countless memories and experiences of our land, which he affectionately passes on to his descendants, transmitting his devotion to the goodness of Estepona,” said Aguilar.
Emotional pregonero of the Fair and Festivities of Estepona in 2023, Carlos Moreno has demonstrated with his noble personal qualities a sincere bond with the municipality and its citizens, which has led him to forge a valuable recognition within the social life of the city.
El Pulpo’ began working in ‘Cadena 100’ at a very young age, linked to one of the most successful programs on the airwaves, ‘La Jungla’. His extensive and award-winning professional career has led him to develop work in different radio and television channels, as well as record projects. Since 2014, he has directed and presented the program ‘Poniendo las Calles’, broadcast by Cadena COPE.
On the other hand, the head of the Citizen Participation area has pointed out that José Luis Carrillo is worthy of being an Adopted Son of Estepona for being part of the history of tourism in our country and for the close ties he maintains with the city.
The mayor stressed that Carrillo is part of an outstanding group of entrepreneurs who knew how to see the opportunities of Spain and Andalusia and at the same time, with that entrepreneurial character have strengthened a key sector of the economy of our country. With more than 54 hotels in property and more than 4,000 jobs within its business group, its relationship with Andalusia dates back to 1989.
In Estepona it carried out in 2015 the comprehensive reform of what is now Globales Playas Estepona. With it, he has managed to revitalize and add value to this area, at the same time as the chain joins its ambitious modernization project to the city of Estepona. In 2021 it acquired the Paraíso Beach hotel, in the Cancelada area, providing it with a new service that contributes to its revitalization.
Committed to the social fabric and to local training and employment, the businessman has demonstrated his connection with Estepona, which has led him to get involved and collaborate actively in the social life of the city, participating every year in the Isdabe and Cancelada fairs or collaborating with social projects of non-profit associations in the municipality, among other initiatives.
