The XIII Urban Race 10 KM of Estepona, one of the most popular in Andalusia, is brought forward to May 3.

The competition will take place on Sunday, May 3 and registrations can be formalized from 12:00 noon on Thursday, February 12 at www.dorsalchip.es. They can also be made in person at Uniformes Estepona.

The Estepona City Council informs that from 12.00 noon tomorrow Thursday, February 12, until April 29, is open the registration period to participate in the XIII Urban Race 10 KM Estepona, organized by the Consistory, along with the Athletics Club Estepona.

This competition is one of the most important sporting events in the city and one of the most popular in Andalusia for the uniqueness of its route and the good atmosphere generated among participants.

One of the main novelties of this edition is that it is brought forward in the calendar to Sunday, May 3. That day will be held the Junior Races with different distances depending on the category (U-8 to U-16) and the Absolute Race (5k and 10k), starting and finishing at the Municipal Athletics Stadium.

In the Absolute Race you can participate only in one of these two distances:

1) 10 km race

2) 5 Km Race, “30th Anniversary (Atlanta’96) Olympic Athlete Miguel de los Santos”.

Registrations for the 10 km urban race, for the 5 km race and the children’s race (with different distances depending on the category) can be formalized online on the platform www.dorsalchip.es, as well as in person at Uniformes Estepona (C/ Valladolid, nº 13, tel. 952 800 096, from 09.30 to 14.00 h).

As every year, the race will have a charitable character, so that the proceeds from the children’s race will be donated to the Alejandro Navarro Deportista Association. Also, participants in the children’s race will deliver 1 kilo of non-perishable food that will be donated to the Social Dining Room of Estepona, Emaus.

The fees for the Junior Race will be 5 euros, in addition to the delivery of 1 kilo of non-perishable food, and registrations can be made until 14:00 hours on April 29. In case there are free places on the day of the race, registration will cost 10 euros, and can be made in the tent set up in the starting area, until 09:30 am, half an hour before the start of the first race.

For the Absolute Race (10 km and 5 km), registration is priced at 15 euros if done from February 12 to April 12 at 11:59 pm; 18 euros if done from April 13 to 26 at 2:00 pm; and 20 euros if done from April 27 to 29 at 2:00 pm. On the day of the race, Sunday, May 3, there will be no registration.

Bib numbers can be picked up at the Plaza de la Fuente of the Estepona Athletics Stadium, located on Avenida Juan Carlos I, from Saturday, May 2, from 10:00 to 15:00 hours; and on Sunday, May 3, from 08:00 to 08:30 hours (junior races), and from 08:00 to 09:30 hours (absolute races, 10 km and 5 km).

The schedules, categories and distances, are as follows:

Junior race:

– 09:00 hours ‘U-12, U-14 and U-16’ (1,500 m).

– 09:20 hours ‘U-10’ (400 m)

– 09:30 hours ‘U-8’ (300 m)

10 km race and 5 km race

– 10:00 a.m.: Groups U-18 and upwards (10,000 m) and U-14 and upwards (5,000 m).

Trophies, medals and gifts will be handed out from 11:30 a.m. onwards.
