Work on the extension of the northern ring road enters its final stretch
The works are widening Santiago de Compostela street, which will be connected to the northern ring road and Camino Vereda de Los Frailes, which will improve traffic flow in the area.
It will have two-way traffic, more than 400 square meters of green areas and twenty new parking lots.
The Estepona City Council informs that the extension works of the northern ring road are in their final stretch. The asphalting of Santiago de Compostela street, which has been widened to be connected to the northern ring road and Camino Vereda de Los Frailes, is currently underway.
This action will improve the traffic flow in the area, since it will produce the union of roads that until now were unconnected.
The new road, which will run parallel to Hidralia’s water supply tank, will have an approximate area of 100 meters long, will be enabled for two-way vehicle traffic and will have vegetation, electricity network and street lighting.
The works, which have an execution budget of 213,071 euros (VAT included), are being carried out by the company VGC GLOBAL SL.
The works also include the refurbishment and enhancement of two green areas, which occupy an area of more than 430 square meters, and the creation of twenty parking spaces. In addition, the pedestrian walkway that runs next to the water tank and connects Camino Vereda de los Frailes with Calle Vigo will be reconditioned.
The northern ring road around the city was inaugurated at the beginning of 2020, being one of the most important projects of the municipality in recent years. Its implementation involved the construction of nine roads, totaling more than 42,000 square meters of surface area and more than 1.6 kilometers in length.
This has made it possible to connect the Trade Fair, Sports and Leisure Park, the Felipe VI Auditorium and the new Athletics Stadium with the northern part of Juan Benítez, linking up to the easternmost part of the urban center. All this has contributed to the fact that, with this new ring road, circulation and mobility in the city have been improved, creating a new ring road in the northern part of the municipality, which is an alternative to the existing one on Avenida Andalucía.
