The Estepona City Council organizes this coming Saturday the 21st a new activity framed in the program ‘Sharing Cultures’, aimed at promoting the participation of foreign residents in the city in social and cultural activities. This time the event is dedicated to Arab culture.
The celebration of the Arab Culture Day will take place from 20.00 to 00.00 at Avenida España number 250, with a dozen stands with typical products of the country, cultural and gastronomic performances.
“Once again we will celebrate a celebration of integration and strengthen ties with our neighbors of a municipality that has 135 different nationalities, this time making the tribute to the more than 2,500 neighbors of Arab origin.” The Deputy Mayor of Extrarradio, Begoña Ortiz, presented the program which, in addition to typical gastronomy, includes live music and a fashion show.
The Arab Culture Day in Estepona is an event that unites cultures and promotes integration through the project ‘Sharing Cultures’, highlighting the diversity and richness of traditions present in the city. Within this annual initiative, other activities have already been held, such as St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s national holiday; the Italian Festival and the Foreign Resident’s Day. Other celebrations are scheduled for the autumn, such as Ukrainian Culture Day, on September 28. In October it will be the turn of the festivities of the French-speaking countries, Scandinavian countries, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, stresses the importance of this annual project, which seeks to publicize the various customs, festivals and cuisine of the foreign population.
As a project of great importance for a third of the population of Estepona, ‘Sharing Cultures’ will continue to cover more initiatives to enrich the municipality culturally.
