Luis Merayo wins two bronzes at the World Indoor Masters Athletics Championships 2025

The local athlete, current Spanish M55 Indoor High Jump Champion, wins medals in high jump and long jump in the sport meeting held in Florida.
The Estepona City Council informs that the local athlete Luis Merayo Cantalapiedra, current Spanish Champion 2025 M55 Indoor High Jump, has won two bronze medals, one in the high jump and the other in the long jump. It has been in his participation in the World Masters Short Indoor Athletics Championships (WMACi), held in Florida (USA).
The athlete won in the discipline of high jump in the M55 category, with a best jump of 1.65 meters; and in the long jump, with a best attempt of 5.79 meters.
Luis Merayo is the technical director of the Escuela Club Atletismo de Estepona, and currently holds the titles of 2024 World Runner-up in the M55 outdoor high jump (Goteborg-Sweden), Bronze Medal in the 2024 World Championships in the M55 outdoor long jump (Goteborg-Sweden), and 2025 Spanish Champion in the M55 indoor high jump (Antequera-Málaga).
World Masters Athletics
World Masters Athletics (WMA) was founded as the World Association of Veteran Athletes (WAVA) on August 9, 1977 in Sweden. The organization’s name change to World Masters Athletics took place in 2001. The main responsibilities of the WMA include: organizing, regulating and managing athletics for masters athletes (women and men over the age of 35); sanctioning the World Masters Athletics Championships and other international athletics competitions for masters athletes; ratifying and recording world records for masters athletes in different five-year categories; as well as maintaining statistics and other best performance records for masters athletes.
In addition, it aims to foster friendship, understanding and cooperation through masters athletics.
