The Cancelada Fair will feature performances by La Húngara, Manuel Cortés and ‘Sótano Sur’ with their ‘Tribute to the Golden Age of Spanish Pop’.

The program of the festivities, which will take place from Thursday, August 17 to Sunday, August 20, includes different activities for audiences of all ages.

Estepona City Council reports that next Thursday, August 17, will begin the Cancelada Fair, which will run until Sunday, August 20 and will offer more than twenty activities to attendees.

The deputy mayor of Extrarradio, Begoña Ortiz, explained that musical performances will again be the main attraction for the festivities. Thus, on Friday, after the opening of the day fair, the afternoon will be enlivened by the spectacle of José Fernández ‘El Pirata’, from 17.30 hours. Already at night, from 23.30 hours, flamenco will continue to be the protagonist with the performance of José Ortega, ‘Manzanita’.

On Saturday, from 5.30 p.m., will be the concert of ‘Sótano Sur’ and his ‘Tribute to the Golden Age of Spanish Pop’, a show in which the group pays tribute to the 80s performing hits by bands like Loquillo, Alaska, Hombres G, Tequila, Nacha pop or Radio Futura, among others. The same Saturday, at 23.30 pm, will be the turn for the concert of Manuel Cortés.

On the other hand, on Sunday, at 11.00 p.m., La Húngara will take the stage to review her career on stage, performing songs such as “Yo no quiero ser tu amante” or “Locamente”, among others.

Begoña Ortiz explained that, this year, the proclamation of the Fair of Cancelada will be given by Miguel López Ramírez. A native of Estepona, has worked throughout his life at the Post Office, although he is now retired. He began his professional career at the age of 18 in Cancelada itself. He is also an active representative of the local culture, being part, for more than forty years, of the Municipal Theater Group of Estepona “Farándula”. Actor and poet, he is currently a contributor to Radio Estepona.

In addition to the proclamation, the councilor attached to the area of Festivities, Macarena Diánez, said that on Thursday and, as the opening of the fair, will take place the ribbon cutting, the coronation of the Ladies and Queens Children and Youth, as well as the lighting of the lighting. Acts that will begin at 22.30 hours.

That same day, at 19.30 pm, will be held in the municipal booth the children’s show of magic and humor with ‘Puki Flai’. Visual comedy with a very attractive staging that plays with the audience and uses magical elements to communicate with the public.

On Friday, at 12.45 pm on the day fair stage, there will be another activity for the little ones, in particular, children’s animation by ‘Los Narizotas’, which will feature Peneque and Verdi as protagonists. The same Friday, from 14.30 hours, will be the opening of the Day Fair with the musical performance of ‘Grupo Latidos’.

On Friday will also take place the traditional snack for the elderly, as well as the performance of the orchestra ‘Kalima’.

On Saturday, the traditional Golf Tournament sponsored by the Cancelada Golf Club will be held at the El Paraíso Golf Club. That same day, at 14.00 hours, we can enjoy the traditional free paella by Angel Utrera.

On Sunday, at 12.30 pm, will be held the Mass in honor of the Virgin of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which will feature the choir of the Brotherhood of El Rocío de Estepona. The events will continue on Sunday, at 17.30 hours, with the concert of the group ‘Compás Flamenco’.
