Estepona City Council informs that the Cine-Club of the delegation of Culture will continue with the spring cycle next Thursday, April 3, with the screening of ‘Milli Vanilli: Girl You Know It’s True’ (2023), a German film that reconstructs the story of these playback heroes, directed by Simon Verhoeven, with Tijan Njie, Elan Ben Ali, Matthias Schweighöfer and Bella Dayne, among others.
Grammy Award-winning musical duo ‘Milli Vanilli’ became the first group to have their award taken away after it was discovered that they were a fake company with playback singers. ‘Girl You Know It’s True’, was the title of the duo’s first album, crowned at the top of the charts for weeks.
Synopsis: ‘Milli Vanilli’, the duo formed by German Rob Pilatus and Frenchman Fab Morvan, became a musical phenomenon in the late 1980s and early 1990s. With hugely popular songs, they swept the charts around the world. Fab and Rob seemed to have a great career ahead of them, until the truth was revealed: it wasn’t them singing their songs. What followed was one of the biggest scandals in music history. Their meteoric rise to fame ended up being overshadowed by their devastating fall.
Due to the long duration of the film (124 minutes), the screening will start at 7.30 p.m. at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center. It will be in the original version in English with Spanish subtitles. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
