The City Council carries out assisted bathing sessions for people with reduced mobility.

This activity, included in the program of activities of Social Relationship, Leisure and Free Time of the Community Social Services, joins the service provided by rescue and lifeguarding, which offers equipment adapted for these baths.

During the months of July and August, the Estepona City Council carries out assisted bathing sessions for people with reduced mobility and disabilities. These people, coming from the program of the Home Help Service of the Delegation of Social Services, are picked up at home and taken in an adapted vehicle, provided by Asdies, an entity that collaborates in this activity, to the beach of El Cristo de Estepona.

This activity takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with a number of 16 users per week (8 users on Tuesday and 8 on Thursday). They are picked up from 10:00 a.m. and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. they enjoy bathing in this beach, where there is a parking area for the disabled and accessibility for changing rooms, showers, toilets, chairs and amphibious adapted crutches. At the end of each day they are taken back to their corresponding homes to finish before 14:00 hours.

For this activity we have the collaboration of the association Asdies, which is responsible for providing the means of transport and the driver to carry out the transfer of our users, as they have an adapted vehicle with capacity for six people, two of them for people with reduced mobility who require wheelchairs for their displacements. In addition, the company Arquisocial collaborates, providing a person, a home help assistant, who is responsible for accompanying our users throughout the activity.

This initiative is included in the program of activities of Social Relationship, Leisure and Free Time of the Community Social Services, aims that those people with reduced mobility or disabled users of the Home Help Service who can not go to the beach by their own means, or have serious difficulties to do so, can enjoy a day of bathing, which brings benefits to their health and welfare.

It should be recalled that the lifeguard and sea rescue service also offers this season a daily service of assisted bathing for people with reduced mobility. This activity, which is free of charge, is available until September 15, from 12:00 to 20:00.

The users will have this assisted bathing service in the beaches of La Rada (Monterroso module) and El Cristo. In both enclaves there will be socio-sanitary technicians and adapted material, which includes amphibious chairs, adapted deck chairs, walkers for the sand and amphibious crutch sets.
