The City Council establishes a pioneering measure to reduce the garbage fee for citizens who recycle at the recycling center.

The City Council gives a 3% discount on the bill to those who make a minimum of three deliveries each year at the clean point, furthering the tax reduction measures and promoting recycling and environmental protection.

Those interested have until the end of March to deliver all the documentation to the Patronato de Recaudación.

The City Council of Estepona has opened the deadline to apply for the rebate on the garbage rate for residents who during the past year deposited waste in the clean point of the city. The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, explained that this is a pioneering measure agreed by the Consistory last year with which, in addition to promoting recycling and care of the city, is intended to minimize the effects of the rise imposed by the central government, while abounding in municipal initiatives to benefit families. The garbage tax has had to be adapted to Law 7/2022 of the central government, which obliges taxpayers to pay in full for the collection, deposit and subsequent incineration of waste in the treatment plants.

With the aim of minimizing the impact of the new ‘tasazo’ of the central Executive on citizens, while complying with it, one of the measures implemented by the City Council is a 3% reduction on the full amount of the rate for those taxpayers who deposit in an authorized clean point, a minimum of three times a year, admissible waste for which there are no containers on the public road. This also contributes to recycling and environmental protection.

Thus, those who made during 2025 these deposits and have the corresponding receipts that are delivered at the Clean Point, can already have open until the end of March to submit the application for the bonus. They will be able to do it in person and by appointment at the offices of the Provincial Board of Collection of Malaga, which is located at Calle Luis Braille, 95, or electronically. To do this, click on the Electronic Office section and continue in the Generic Procedures section and select the General Application option.

The Punto Limpio of Estepona is located on Pinsapo Street, on the way up to Los Reales. Waste for which there are no containers on the public road can be taken there. This is the case of mattresses, electrical and computer equipment, X-rays or oils, among others. The objective of this clean point is to collect and catalog these wastes in order to manage them responsibly and respectfully with the environment. It also avoids the uncontrolled dumping of bulky waste that cannot be disposed of by conventional waste collection services, and separates hazardous waste for specialized treatment, in accordance with existing regulations. It also contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of caring for the environment.

The City Council encourages citizens to deposit this type of waste in this center, thus contributing to recycling, environmental protection and public health.

The deposits made throughout 2026 will be used to apply for the bonus of the following year’s garbage collection.

The opening hours of the Punto Limpio of Estepona are as follows: Monday to Saturday: 10:00 to 14:00 hours. In the afternoon, from 16:00 to 18:00 hours, except Tuesday and Saturday.
