The City Council intensifies beach clean-up and removes more than 12,000 cubic meters of reeds due to the storm

The device will continue during these days due to the large amount of waste washed away.
The cleaning service will be reinforced once the rainy season is over in order to have the coast in perfect condition for Easter.
The City Council of Estepona is intensifying the cleaning tasks throughout the coast of Estepona and has removed in the last three weeks about 12,000 cubic meters of reeds that have been dragged to the beaches as a result of successive rainstorms.
The work of the workers, who are focused both on the beaches of the town center and the outskirts, is finding as main difficulty the continuous appearance of debris due to the flooding of rivers and streams and heavy rainfall that have been happening, hence the work has intensified. In addition, due to the significant flow of water that has been arriving at the mouths, as well as the volume of sediment and reeds that they drag, it has been difficult to access certain points until the water level has dropped.
All the material that is being removed from the coast is being loaded onto trucks for transfer to the waste treatment center.
These tasks will be maintained over the next few days while the storms persist. Subsequently, the cleaning service will be reinforced for the total preparation of the beaches for Easter.
The municipal area of Beaches has begun this week the installation of the new surveillance and lifeguard towers that will be operational this summer in coastal areas such as La Rada, El Cristo, El Padrón, El Saladillo and Arroyo Vaquero.
