The City Council organizes chess games on the giant boards of the Paseo Marítimo throughout the summer.

The free activity ‘Chess for All’ will be open to the public from next Monday, July 3, to August 25, from 19:00 to 22:00 hours.
The Estepona City Council informs that, throughout the summer, the Municipal Chess School will hold rapid chess games and giant games on the large format boards of the Paseo Marítimo.
As in past years, the activity ‘Chess for All’ is free and open to the public. It will take place from next Monday, July 3, to August 25, from 19:00 to 22:00 hours, under the supervision of the teacher of the Municipal Chess School, Miguel Abril.
In addition to the table boards for quick games, six large format boards will be available, with giant pieces of 55 centimeters long, made of pressed plastic.
This activity is part of the Chess Promotion Plan launched by the City Council of Estepona in 2011, which has allowed, as a pioneering educational experience, that all children born since 2004 have received training to learn to play chess, a game that offers important intellectual benefits to those who practice it.
The next summer appointment with chess will take place on August 10, from 20:00 to 24:00 hours, with the celebration of the XXXVII Nocturno de Ajedrez ‘Ciudad de Estepona’, also in the Paseo Marítimo.
On the other hand, the Municipal School of Chess will give in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center introductory and advanced chess classes from July 11th to August 24th, for children from 6 to 16 years old, from Monday to Friday, from 11:00 to 13:00 hours. Registrations can be made by e-mail at cursoscultura@estepona.es and in person at the Town Hall, from July 3rd to 18th.
