The City Council will reinforce security on the road to La Cala, which connects the town center with the outlying areas, after the damage caused by the rains.

The Consistory puts out to tender the construction of a retaining wall on the slope that supports this road, affected by landslides due to rainfall and runoff.
The Estepona City Council has put out to tender an intervention aimed at reinforcing the road surface of the road of La Cala, a road that connects the eastern part of the urban area with different scattered areas of the municipality above the highway, where the rains and runoffs have been causing landslides.
Specifically, the action consists of the execution of a section of retaining wall of earth with riprap on the existing slope below the area, where the landslides have occurred due to runoffs. In addition, work will be carried out to collect the surface water that flows down to the road and along it to return it to its natural course, thus avoiding the current problems.
The La Cala road is a road frequently used by local residents, as it connects the eastern part of the town with scattered areas, agricultural, livestock and maintenance activities. It is a road that crosses over the AP-7 freeway. Due to the different activities in the area, it is also used by a large number of vehicles, some of them heavy.
In the section that runs from Avenida Litoral to the area above the highway, part of the slope that supports the road has broken off. This is due to the flooding of the La Cala river and the surface water that concentrates at this point in times of heavy storms, affecting both the existing containment structure and the road surface layer.
The City Council has considered it necessary, immediate and urgent to replace the damage to the containment system of this section of the road to avoid major problems of new landslides that could affect the main trunk.
With a base bid price of 86,434 euros and a completion period of one month and a half, this action is included in the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Estepona destination financed by the EU Next Generation Funds within the actions aimed at the recovery and repair of municipal roads and silting.
