The Municipal Band will open the summer concert season with a ‘Tribute to John Williams: 90 years of a genius’.

The summer concert season will begin on Sunday, July 23, at 9 pm, in the central Plaza del Reloj. The concerts will take place every Sunday until August 27, with free access.

The Estepona City Council informs that the new season of Summer Concerts of the Municipal Band of Estepona (BME) will start next Sunday, July 23, at 21:00 hours, at the Recinto Musical Maestro Navarro Mollor, located in the emblematic Plaza del Reloj.

This is the fourteenth season of the BME under the direction and artistic direction of maestro José Antonio López Camacho. During the six free performances included in this cycle, will be interpreted by the Municipal Band of Estepona more than fifty works, including soundtracks of television series and films, great classical works, zarzuelas, original music for band or modern popular music, until concluding on August 27.

During the first concert will take place the world premiere in Andalusia of “Williams”, a symphonic metamorphosis on themes from John Williams’ films, by the composer and conductor Ferrer Ferran. As in every edition, each of the concerts will end with the interpretation of the Estepona Anthem, with lyrics and music by the remembered maestro Manuel Navarro Mollor.

The origin of the Estepona Band dates back to 1940, performing uninterruptedly since then, making it one of the oldest band formations in the country. On its 75th anniversary, the City Council awarded it the Gold Medal of the City. Its YouTube Channel has exceeded 750,000 views.

Program of the “Inaugural Concert” of the Summer Season: Sunday, July 23rd, 21:00 h.
