The Municipal Theater Group ‘Farándula’ plays again ‘Los héroes de Villafranca’, by the playwright I. García Barba, for the benefit of the Alzheimer’s Association.
The performance of this comedy will take place next Saturday, November 30 at the Felipe VI Auditorium.
The City Council of Estepona informs that the Municipal Theater Group ‘Farándula’ will perform again the play ‘Los héroes de Villafranca’, by the great author Ignasi García Barba, premiered with great success during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the theater group. On this occasion, the performance will take place next Saturday, November 30, at 8:00 p.m., in the Felipe VI Auditorium. It will be for the benefit of the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer Patients of Estepona.
The play is set in Aragon, in the early nineteenth century, during the Napoleonic occupation of the peninsula. A pure style comedy, which will be performed by local actors Miguel López, Rafa Alijas, Ana Fargas, Nathalie Martín, Sebastián Márquez, Miguel Aragón, Carlos Llovet, Jorge Centeno, Sabrina Castellano M. and Maribel Aragón. Directed by Jesús Luque, with Asunción Rivera as assistant director.
Tickets are priced at 10 euros and can be purchased at the box office from one hour before the start of the performance.
GMT ‘FARÁNDULA’. The Municipal Theater Group was created in 1983 and debuted in 1984 with the play ‘En la ardiente oscuridad’, by Buero Vallejo. Since then it has premiered almost a hundred titles of different theatrical genres.
Among the numerous awards received, the one awarded in the XV Certamen de Campillos stands out: Best Play and Best Female Interpretation for Mª Victoria de Miguel, with ‘La gata sobre un tejado de zinc caliente’, a free version of the play based on the text by playwright Tennessee Williams, whose interpretation also earned her the Award for Best Play in the National Theater Contest ‘Villa de Pizarra 2014’.
In the XIII Certamen de Campillos, two of its components: Rafa Alijas and Mar Berlanga, were, likewise, recognized as best performers in the well-known play by Adolfo Marsillach ‘Yo me bajo en la próxima, ¿y usted?’. In 2011, two awards stand out: Best Male Interpretation Award to Miguel López for his role in ‘Gaviotas subterráneas’ in the XI Certamen de Campillos and in the III Certamen de Teatro de Olvera. And that same year he received the ‘Torre Almenara 2011’ Award as Best Cultural Entity, awarded by the 24 Hours Sports Foundation of Estepona.
In addition, the GMT ‘Farándula’ won in 2016 two awards at the XVI Certamen de Teatro ‘Isidro Carbonero Villa de Campillos’. The show ‘Mamás’, a comic play by Marc Egea in which two women tell their experience in the world of motherhood, won the award for best female performer for Mercedes Bazán and best scenography.
Since 1998, GMT ‘Farándula’ has been directed by Jesús Luque.
