The ‘painter of the wings’, Cristina Harillo, returns to the Casa de las Tejerinas with a new exhibition.

The opening of the exhibition will take place this Friday, July 12, at 6:00 p.m., and it will be open to the public until August 24.

The Estepona City Council informs that Room 1 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host a new exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the artist Cristina Harillo, known as ‘the painter of the wings’, whose inauguration will take place next Friday, July 12, at 6:00 pm.

The exhibition will be composed of her latest pictorial works along with a list of previous works that maintain a dialogue with the current ones, in addition to several of her sculptural creations. It can be visited until August 24, from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with free access.

Cristina Harillo Muñoz was born in Ceuta and has been living in Algeciras for many years, a city where she develops her work as a painter and creative plastic artist.

She received master classes for several years from the professor of Fine Arts and artist Juan Zahara. Among his work highlights having won the contest organized by the Conservatory of La Linea de la Concepcion to design the official logo of the same, as well as the poster for the first hall of the Campo de Gibraltar Flamenco Fashion, or the logo of the Banda Virgen de la Palma de Algeciras. Also noteworthy are his designs of jewelry pieces and his collaboration with various social organizations, such as the charity auction organized by the Ladies of Pilar de Algeciras, and the ‘pin’ for the fight against breast cancer of the delegation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer of Algeciras (AECC). He is currently working on large format works, on average 120×100 cm, mixed media on wood.

He has created a series of works based on the theme of wings. His wings are works in which it is as important the construction of colors as textures, being very relevant in any of them. “Wings that are chests that enclose meanings, each one of them different from the others, and in each one we can see reflected our deepest self, our lived experiences, our fears, longings, struggles, victories…” They are what have made her known as the ‘painter of wings’. With this series she has exhibited in the Cruz Herrera Museum in La Línea de la Concepción, in the Casa de las Tejerinas of the Estepona City Hall, and in the Cajasur Exhibition Hall of the Algeciras City Hall. He has also made a mural with this theme in Tarifa Street in Algeciras, at the initiative of local businesses. Soon he will take them to the Castle of Guzmán el Bueno in Tarifa.

At the same time he has been developing another series of abstract works, the result of experimentation with other materials and his artistic and professional development. He has called this series ‘My Paradises’ and maintains a dialogue with his wings, since they are the ones that show him these different worlds and experiences.
