The traveling campaign Frutibús will bring healthy eating to students and neighbors of Estepona
The Junta’s mobile classroom will offer free activities for schoolchildren and the general public, with open days, on October 29 and 30. This toy library aims to promote and increase the consumption of fruits, vegetables and milk.
The City Council of Estepona reports that the traveling campaign Frutibús, information and public awareness developed by the Junta de Andalucía to publicize the importance of a healthy and balanced diet, will stop in the town.
Developed by the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development; Educational Development and Vocational Training; and Health and Consumer Affairs, seeks to improve the knowledge of students about the basics of a healthy diet, move the reality and characteristics of the Andalusian food production and promote the consumption of fruits, vegetables and dairy products.
The mobile unit ‘Frutibús’ is equipped with a series of educational activities that, in a fun and entertaining way, allow the participating public to learn about the benefits of consuming these foods produced in Andalusia. The main target audience of the campaign are schoolchildren, although open days are held to bring the objectives of the same to the general public, especially the family environment. The informative activity is public, non-commercial and totally free of charge.
This adapted bus will be located on October 29th next to CEIP Simón Fernández, and on October 30th, next to CEIP Valeriano López. The opening hours will be from 09:00 to 14:00 hours for schools, and from 15:00 to 18:00 hours for the general public. The visits have a high playful content to fulfill the dual function of entertaining and disseminating information.
The Frutibús is part of the School Program for the Consumption of Fruit, Vegetables and Milk, which aims to promote the consumption of these foods among schoolchildren, thus improving their eating habits. It is financed by the European Union and the Junta de Andalucía. In total, the Frutibús of the Junta will travel during the 2024-2025 course more than 170 schools in the Andalusian community to offer students, through interactive games and workshops, information on healthy eating.
