The City Council carries out more than 15,000 street maintenance interventions during the year 2024

Most of the actions carried out by the Operational Brigades have taken place on public roads, sidewalks and lighting.

The brigades have also been responsible for the drafting of larger works projects and the control of their execution, such as the safety walkway in the Pavilion of La Lobilla or the waterproofing of sidewalks.

The Estepona City Council has carried out, through the Municipal Operational Brigades, more than 15,000 maintenance actions in public spaces during the year 2024. This is evidenced in the balance made from the area of External Control. The bulk of the interventions corresponds to roads and sidewalks, street lighting and municipal buildings. Also noteworthy is the work carried out in road signaling, as well as in the files destined to the logistics in the organization of events.

The work of the Operational Brigades is articulated through the files coming from different routes. The vast majority of them are issued from the External Control area of the City Council. This year 2024 there have been a total of 4,457 received and executed. It should be borne in mind that each of these files contains an average of three maintenance actions, so that the total number of interventions amounts to 13,371.

To these actions must be added those carried out ex officio by the brigades themselves, i.e., those resulting from maintenance inspections carried out by the service. In total, more than a thousand have been carried out, 43% corresponding to public lighting, 29% to sidewalks and public roads, and the rest to actions in public buildings and rural roads.

On the other hand, another 423 actions have been carried out as a result of on-call notices executed by the Electricity and Works brigades as a whole. These interventions are carried out to solve breakdowns and incidents outside normal working hours and which, due to their urgent nature, require immediate action.

Projects

During 2024, the Municipal Operational Brigades were also in charge of drafting projects for larger works, as well as coordinating and inspecting the work carried out. This is the case of the waterproofing and renovation of the public sidewalk in Tres Banderas Street; the waterproofing of Plaza Concha Espina, putting an end to water seepage in the adjoining premises and homes with a new sidewalk; or the waterproofing and elimination of architectural barriers in the Mar y Sierra neighborhood. In the latter case, a first phase has been carried out for the elimination of planters in poor condition that make pedestrian traffic impossible, and in a second phase the execution of a ramp for the disabled will be undertaken and a section of public sidewalk will be waterproofed and rehabilitated.

Other projects have been the elimination of flower boxes in Barriada de Fuerzas Armadas, the elimination of architectural barriers in Pasaje Andaluz, the repair of the sidewalk with printed concrete in Calle Baleares, the supply and installation of a gutter and metal walkway for the maintenance of the roof of the Sports Pavilion of La Lobilla, and the installation of street lighting in Plaza de Gamonales and nearby streets.
