The researcher will delve into the characteristics of this valuable natural enclave in this meeting entitled ‘Sierra Bermeja. Our unknown jewel’.
It will take place this coming Friday, July 12, at 22:00 hours, with free access.
Estepona City Council reports that the Plaza del Reloj will host next Friday, July 12, at 22.00 pm, a conference with projection of photographs on ‘Sierra Bermeja. Our unknown jewel”, by the university professor Alfonso Rubio.
During his speech, the speaker will show how Sierra Bermeja was born and explain each of its characteristics that make it unique in the world. Through photographs, he will compare it with other mountain ranges formed with the same mineral, giving answers to questions such as: why Bermeja is red and why it is unique. Derived from its composition, there are some limitations for plant and animal life: its endemisms, which in turn make it even more exclusive, according to his research.
Rubio will also show other mountain ranges, such as Sierra Blanca, to expand the possibilities of enjoying the mountains in our area.
Alfonso Rubio has a PhD in Computer Engineering, the first in Andalusia, a degree in Philosophy, researcher and scientific disseminator. He is the founding president of the Sense Group, with companies in Madrid, Barcelona and Paris. He is also an advisor to the University of Houston, the first ‘non-American’ to join this institution.
