Urban development: Estepona wants to build on its reputation as the “Garden of the Costa del Sol
More than 250,000 flowers and shrubs are to be planted in Estepona over the next few months. With this, the city wants to build on its reputation as the “Garden of the Costa del Sol”. Among other things, mainly marigolds, lobelia, begonia and acalifa shrubs will be planted, but also new species on a trial basis.
The plantings will be made in the main streets, on the seafront, at the entrances to Estepona and in squares in the city centre as well as in the suburbs. In total, more than 400,000 square metres of green spaces are to be created.
This year, the new pedestrian zone Avenida de España and the recently redesigned Plaza del Ajedrez will also be provided with flowers and shrubs. The flowers and shrubs come from a municipal nursery.
