The City Council collaborates with the National Police in the organization of the I Solidarity Race ‘Route 091’.

The funds raised in this event, to be held on December 14, will go to the association ‘Alejandro Navarro Deportista’, which aims to acquire a Joellete wheelchair so that physically disabled users can go hiking.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, the Commissioner, responsible for the Local Police Station of Estepona, Santos Lázaro Martín, the director of the Costa del Sol Area of Banco Santander, Juan Manuel Ballesteros and the sportsman Alejandro Navarro have presented today the I Solidarity Race ‘Route 091’, Bicentennial Edition, which will raise funds for the Association ‘Alejandro Navarro Deportista’.

The Route 091 is a set of solidarity races organized by the National Police throughout the Spanish geography. In Estepona, the first edition will be held on December 14, starting at 10:00 am from the Mirador del Carmen, in the children’s category, and at 11:00 am, in adults and walkers, and will be dedicated to commemorate the Bicentennial of the National Police. The purpose is to bring the Police closer to the citizens, as well as to promote the image of the city of Estepona.

The mayor of Estepona has explained that the City Council of Estepona will collaborate with National Police in the organization and logistics of this solidarity sporting event, whose proceeds will go to the purchase of a Joellete wheelchair that will allow hiking and urban routes to people with physical disabilities.

Registrations will be made through the official website www.ruta091.es, and the deadline will remain open until December 10. The cost of registration is 12 euros for adults and 10 euros for children (up to 14 years of age) and inclusive mode, including commemorative T-shirt. In addition, there will be a solidarity bib, called ‘Dorsal 0’.

The first three finishers in the adult category, male and female, will be awarded prizes, and all registered children will receive a medal.

The children’s race will start at 10:00 a.m., with a maximum time of 40 minutes. Participants up to 6 years will have a distance of 300 meters, and from 7 to 12 years, 800 meters.

For its part, the adult race and race walk will start at 11:00 am from the Mirador del Carmen and the route, 5 km, with a maximum time of one hour, and will run along the Avenida de España, Calle Teatro, Malaga, Terrazo, Lozano, Antero and Arroyuelo, Paseo Marítimo, Pasarela del Puerto Pesquero and Paseo de Don José Fernández de Garrido, to the starting point. In the case of the children’s categories, up to 12 years, the entire circuit will be closed to traffic.

The collection of bibs will be held at the office of the National Police SATE, located in the Casa de Las Tejerinas, in the Plaza de Las Flores, on December 12, from 08:00 to 14:30 hours, and on the 13th, from 08:00 to 14:30 and from 18:00 to 19:00 hours. On the day of the race, December 14, bibs will be handed out at the starting area, at the Mirador del Carmen, between 08:30 and 09:30 hours. At the time of collecting the bib it will be essential to present the personal ID of the registered runner.

The benefits obtained from registrations and donations will go to the Association ‘Alejandro Navarro Deportista’, in order to get a Joelette chair for hiking, and to participate in inclusive sport, which will be available in his association for anyone who might need it.
