This sporting event, which avoids crowds to offer runners a premium experience, will be held on October 11
Estepona is gearing up for a true celebration of sports on October 11. The first edition of the Estepona “Jardín de la Costa del Sol” Marathon is taking shape, and more than 1,000 runners have already reserved their race numbers for its debut on the international calendar.
In total, runners from more than 50 countries have signed up for the race so far, with particularly strong participation from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and Ireland. Estepona’s excellent transportation links—with the nearby airports in Málaga and Gibraltar—are part of the event’s undeniable appeal to international participants, who have fallen in love with Estepona and the Costa del Sol.
At the national and local levels, the impact of the Estepona “Jardín Costa del Sol” Marathon is equally significant. Twenty-one percent of participants come from outside Andalusia, with 6.1% of the total coming from the Community of Madrid. And all of this without losing its Andalusian essence, as 60% of the national participants are runners from Málaga who didn’t want to miss the debut of these unforgettable 42 kilometers and 195 meters, with a route that takes advantage of much of the coastal path—one of the most spectacular stretches of coastline in southern Europe.
Estepona thus presents itself as a paradise to live in, welcoming with open arms a world eager to enjoy the area through the lens of sports. This is a commitment to an experiential marathon, away from crowds, to offer runners a premium experience.
Registration for the Estepona Jardín de la Costa del Sol Marathon is available on the race’s official website (www.maratoncostadelsol.com) at a price of 60 euros for the marathon and 35 euros for the classic half-marathon distance.
The Costa del Sol Marathon is supported by the Estepona City Council, sponsored by the Association of Municipalities of the Western Costa del Sol, Azata, Taraje, and Hotel Ikos, and organized in collaboration with Hidralia, Urbaser, Carrefour, Renault Rombosol, Restaurante El Cielo, Grupo Trocadero, and Afar4.
