The City Council is organizing the 9th Andalusian Horse Saddle-Up Contest as part of the Estepona Fair and Annual Festivals

The contest will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026, starting at 1:00 p.m., at the Estepona Fairgrounds.

Any fans who wish to participate may do so by registering on the day of the event, starting one hour before the contest begins.

The Estepona City Council has published the rules for participation in the 9th Andalusian Horse Saddle-Up Contest, which will be held as part of the 2026 Estepona Fair and Annual Festivities, taking place from July 7 to 12.

Macarena Diánez, the councilwoman in charge of the Festivals Department, explained that the overall purpose of this contest—which will be held on Sunday, July 12, at 1:00 p.m., at the Fairgrounds, is to promote the decorations, traditions, and customs of the Estepona Fair and Annual Festivals.

As established in the rules, any enthusiast who wishes to participate may do so by registering on the day of the event at the Fairgrounds. Those interested in participating must arrive one hour before the contest begins to complete their registration.

Prior to the contest, each participant must submit the following documentation to City Hall via the Registration Desk, either in person or through the Online Portal:

· Name, a copy of their ID card, proof of bank account ownership, a contact phone number, and the category in which they wish to participate.

· Minors, in addition to the above documentation, must also provide a copy of the Family Register and a signed authorization from both parents or legal guardians (as outlined in ANNEX I of the Rules, which can be consulted on the City Hall Bulletin Board).

The jury, which will be composed of professionals and federation members associated with the equestrian world, will evaluate the following criteria: the greatest fidelity of clothing and tack to the Andalusian equestrian tradition.

Each participant (rider and horse) may compete in only one category, chosen by the rider: Rider, Junior Rider (up to and including age 14), Senior Rider (age 60 and older), Pair, and Female Rider.

The following prizes are awarded in each category:

· First Prize: 250 euros + trophy

· Second Prize: 200 euros + trophy

· Third Prize: 150 euros + trophy

· Fourth Prize: 100 euros

· Fifth Prize: 50 euros.
