The City Council is putting out a call for bids for a new road paving plan with an investment of nearly two million euros

This project will involve work on about twenty streets in the city center and the outskirts

The Estepona City Council reports that it has just put the 7th Municipal Paving Plan out to bid, a project that will involve an investment of more than 1.9 million euros and will allow for continued improvements to the city’s road network through the resurfacing of various streets and urban areas.

The work, which is expected to take five months from the start of the project, will improve nearly twenty roads. Specifically, in the downtown area, work will be carried out on Carmen Laforet Street, Puerta del Mar Avenue, Los Reales Avenue, Segovia Avenue, Camelias Street, and Río Guadalmina Street.

On the outskirts, the work areas will be as follows: Lubina Street, Alfarnate, Alcaucín, México Avenue, Violeta Street, Levante Street, Del Reposo Street, the Bahía Azul residential development, Tenis Street, Romero Street, Camomila Street, Paz Avenue, and Edison Street.

The roads included in the 7th Municipal Plan show varying degrees of deterioration caused by continuous use, the aging of materials, and the loss of structural integrity in certain sections—circumstances that have led to the appearance of potholes and surface defects.

This project aims to improve the functionality of the streets, enhance road safety, and extend the service life of the road surfaces through comprehensive renovation and improvement measures.

In addition, the bidding process for this Municipal Paving Plan includes social clauses that will require the winning contractor to hire at least two people with disabilities or who face special difficulties in entering the workforce during the execution of the works, one of whom will be assigned to administrative tasks.

This new plan joins the six previous ones undertaken in the city, which have resulted in the improvement of more than 250 streets and work on nearly 300,000 square meters of road surface in both the city center and outlying areas.

This project complements the transformation the city has undergone through the comprehensive renovation of the historic center and the beautification of the various areas within the municipal boundaries.

Improving the road surface helps enhance traffic safety, which is why the Estepona City Council will continue to implement new plans that will include both streets in the city center and in the outskirts.
