The City Council is launching a new edition of its assisted bathing program for people with limited mobility and disabilities

This activity takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the months of July and August at El Cristo Beach
The Estepona City Council today presented its assisted swimming program for people with limited mobility and disabilities who are users of the Home Help Service provided by the municipal Social Services department.
The goal of this initiative is to enable people who cannot get to the beach on their own—or who face serious difficulties doing so—to enjoy a day at the beach, which provides benefits for their health and well-being. The program is part of the Community Social Services’ Social Interaction, Recreation, and Leisure Activities program.
This activity takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, serving 16 participants per week (8 on Tuesdays and 8 on Thursdays). They are picked up starting at 10:00 a.m. in an accessible vehicle, and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., they enjoy swimming at El Cristo Beach, an easily accessible area equipped with parking for people with disabilities, changing rooms, and showers.
At the end of each day, they are taken back to their respective homes, arriving before 2:00 p.m. Participants are assisted at all times by two aides from the Home Care Service provided by the concessionaire OHLA INGESAN.
In addition, participants in this program have access to two amphibious wheelchairs, an adapted lounge chair, a walker, and a set of special crutches for moving across the sand. If necessary, additional equipment can be provided based on demand and the participants’ needs
It should be noted that in addition to this activity aimed at participants who require home care assistance, the City Council offers a daily assisted swimming service at La Rada and El Cristo beaches, which will be available through September 15, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This service is staffed by social and health care professionals and equipped with a variety of adapted materials, including amphibious chairs, adapted lounge chairs, sand walkers, and sets of amphibious crutches.
