The City Council opens the registration period for the contest ‘Burning of the Mustaches of San Juan’.

The ‘Quemas’ can be registered until June 10 at the General Register of the City Council.

The party will take place on June 23 at La Rada Beach and will feature performances by Manuel Cortés and DJs ENZOBV and Miguel Carrasco.

Estepona City Council reports that until June 10 will remain open the registration period to participate in the XLIV Contest ‘Burning of the Mustaches of San Juan’, to be held on June 23 at the beach of La Rada.

According to the rules of this local contest, the Councillor for Festivities, Macarena Diánez, has announced that all natural and legal persons, Brotherhoods, Guilds and neighborhood associations who wish to participate may do so, after registration until June 10 in the General Register of the City Council. Participants must previously provide the sketches of the design of the ‘Quema’ in the municipal delegation of Festivals, in the e-mail: @estepona.es parties.

All ‘Quemas’ submitted to the contest will be installed in the area delimited by the City Council, in La Rada Beach. The motif, as well as the dimensions, will be of free choice. Will not be admitted to the contest those designs that violate the right to honor, personal and family privacy, or those that are disrespectful to religious beliefs and / or sexual condition of people.

The municipal delegation of Festivities has established the following prizes for the best ‘Burns’: First Prize: 1,000 euros + trophy; Second Prize: 500 euros + Trophy; Third Prize: 300 euros + Trophy; fourth, fifth and sixth prize: 200 euros each, gross amounts.

The jury will be composed of the Councillor for Festivities or person delegated by her, acting as members a member of each ‘Quema’ registered, which may not vote their own proposal. They will visit each of the ‘Quemas’ from 21.00 hours. The theme, artistic quality, ingenuity, tradition, humor and originality, atmosphere and popularity of the ‘Quema’ will be awarded.

The Flamenco Night of San Juan will be enlivened, from 22.00 hours, with the performance of Manuel Cortés and DJs ENZOBV and Miguel Carrasco. The Quemas participating in the contest will be lit from 00.00 hours, at the beginning of the Night of San Juan.
