The International Fantastic Film Week begins on Saturday with the premiere of the short film ‘El Tiempo Airado’ and the presentation of the ASFAAN award to the comedian Álex O’Dogherty.

The opening gala of the film festival will begin at 9:00 p.m. at the Botanical Orchid Park.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that next Saturday, September 7, will kick off the XXV International Fantastic Film Week of the Costa del Sol, with a review of its 25 years of history.

The festival, whose godfather will be the Malaga actor Miguel Angel Martin, will run until September 14 in the Felipe VI Auditorium in Estepona, with parallel activities in Benahavis, Marbella and Malaga, and will pay tribute to Claudio Fragasso, Alex O’Dogherty, Elia Galera, Jose Pastor and Agustin Padilla, the sponsors, the television series ‘Mano de Hierro’ and Salva Reina.

The opening of the film event will take place at 21:00 hours, in the Botanical Park Orquidario, sponsored by the Malaga actor Miguel Angel Martin, and conducted by the president of the Cultural and Film Association ‘Unicorn’, Isabel Lopez.

During the opening gala, which will be enlivened by the group Vintage Experience, the ASFAAN award will be presented to the comedian, actor, presenter and musician Álex O’Dogherty, for his representation as an Andalusian actor in the audiovisual world outside the borders of Andalusia.

Then, the short film ‘El Tiempo Airado’ will be premiered, a thriller shot this year under the direction of Manuel Vera, with Ramón Langa, Candela Vergara and Julio Peces San Román as protagonists, and produced by the ‘Unicornio’ Association, in collaboration with the City Council of Arenas de San Pedro, Ávila, Julio Peces’ hometown and scene of the filming. In addition, Tim Burton’s film ‘Bitelchús’ (1988) will be screened.

The festival will continue on Sunday 8, at 21:00 hours, in the Plaza del Reloj, with a gala tribute to the sponsors of the festival, companies and public organizations that have made possible a quality cultural offer, enlivened by the Black Sheep company.

The International Fantastic Film Week of the Costa del Sol is organized by the Cultural and Film Association of the Costa del Sol ‘Unicornio. Sponsors: Estepona City Council, Benahavís City Council, Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Occidental, Diputación Provincial de Málaga, Achedosol-Montes Torres, Casino Marbella and Ona Group.

Attendance to all film screenings, publications and other festival activities will be free of charge, until full capacity is reached.
