Estepona celebrates a new edition of the French festival ‘La Fiesta de la Música’.

La Fête de la Musique’ will be held on Wednesday 21, at 8:00 p.m., in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, with the French-speaking artists Malou and Anton

The City Council of Estepona informs that the Plaza Antonia Guerrero will host next Wednesday June 21, from 20:00 hours, a new edition of La Fiesta de la Musique (La Fête de la Musique, in French), a festival open to all musical genres, which was born in France in the early 80s and has spread to 120 countries.

At that time, an idea appeared in France: a free festival, open to all music “without hierarchy of genres and practices”, accessible to all French people and allowing all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known. Thus, the first Music Festival was launched on June 21, 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. Its aim is to promote music in two ways: the first, that amateur musicians voluntarily go out to play in the streets, and the second, the organization of free concerts in which the public has the opportunity to witness their favorite artists regardless of style or origin.

The result already exceeds all expectations. In France, this celebration was an immediate success and took on considerable scope, becoming a national event in several countries (such as Luxembourg, Italy, Greece, Peru or Ecuador). It has also been taken to large metropolises such as New York, Berlin and Mexico City. By adapting to the cultural specificities of each country, the Fête de la Musique was able to invent itself, reinvent itself and become an emblematic international musical event. Today, 120 countries celebrate it every year.

In Estepona, access to the fifth edition of this festival will be free, and will feature the performance of French-speaking artists Malou (vocals) and Anton (guitar). Both met in the streets of Granada, and fuse French songs with jazz/flamenco guitar and invite you to discover or rediscover the greats of French music.

This activity is framed in the collaboration agreement signed between the Alliance Française de Malaga and the City of Estepona, by which the city is the headquarters to expand on the Costa del Sol the training activities organized by this French cultural entity. These actions include the teaching of the language in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, as well as the celebration of other events and activities related to the French culture, such as cinema, exhibitions, conferences or festivals, as is the case.
