Mixed exhibition of painting and sculpture by the artist Sian Faber at Casa Las Tejerinas.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday, September 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with free access until full capacity is reached.

Estepona City Council reports that the Room 1 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host from next Friday, September 13, at 18.00 hours, a new exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the New Zealand artist based in Spain Sian Faber.

The exhibition is entitled ‘Flamenco Heart’ and consists of more than thirty pieces: framed paintings and large format canvases, as well as glass sculptures and framed linen prints. It can be visited until September 25, Tuesday to Friday, from 09.00 to 20.00 hours, and Saturdays from 09.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 20.00 hours, with free access.

Sian Faber is a New Zealand artist living in Gaucín, a municipality in the Serranía de Ronda, who tells stories through her artwork, both about the natural world around her and the rich cultures of Andalusia in which she is immersed. Having worked with artists and dancers throughout her artistic career, she uses unique methods to capture the spectacle and emotions of Flamenco.

A Fine Arts graduate from Auckland, New Zealand, Sian has lived and worked in Sydney, Australia for over 30 years. As a painter and sculptor of figures and abstract art, she works with both traditional materials such as stone, glass and watercolor, as well as not so traditional ones (vulture feathers, crocheted objects from her grandmother…). She gives objects a second life, creating meaningful canvases that tell stories of flamenco.

Working with dancers who use their bodies to create art has been a new source of inspiration, creating something tangible from an art form, so transient in nature. Sian’s desire to capture that instant, like a pictogram in a film, has resulted in the exhibition ‘Flamenco Heart’.

The artist says she is “deeply grateful to the dancer from Estepona and muse Elisa Gonzalez, who has opened her heart to show her flamenco duende”.

Her work is part of private collections in America, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Italy, France and Spain.
