The City Council bids the works to incorporate the Benamara area to the coastal corridor
The new stretch of coastal promenade will connect the projected sections in El Saladilllo and Dos Hermanas. Estepona already has more than 20 kilometers of coastline connected by this pedestrian path.
The Estepona Town Hall has put out to tender the new section of the coastal corridor that will allow the extension of this pedestrian path to include the Benamara area. This is the section that will connect those already planned in El Saladillo (with works already awarded) and, on the east side, in the urbanization Dos Hermanas.
The aim of this action, which goes out to tender with a base price of 1.2 million euros (VAT included), is to give continuity to the pedestrian itinerary and increase the accessible length of the promenade in the area. In this sense, it has been planned to act on a beachfront front of approximately 839 meters long in the Benamara area. The works contemplate the creation of a printed concrete pedestrian path along its entire length, with a width of 3 meters.
The intervention allows to recover for public use, pedestrian, bicycle and light vehicles passage, a longitudinal strip along the entire beachfront of the action.
The execution period for this work, once the contract has been awarded and signed, has been estimated at six months. This new section continues to shape the coastal corridor project in Estepona, which is more than 90% completed. Just a few weeks ago the wooden bridge over the Dos Hermanas stream was installed, a structure with a length of 22.6 meters and weighing up to 9 tons. Made of pine wood, this new bridge has become the most outstanding element of the new section of the path that runs from Benamara to Playa de Baños.
After the actions carried out in recent months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being already very close to reach the end of this sustainable project and of great impact for the city, which has meant preserving the coastline putting it in value and enabling a new tourist attraction. The municipal forecast is that the pending sections will be completed before the end of the year.
