The City Council incorporates 9 new Local Police Officers

The Consistory is also calling for the provision of 10 new police officers, and another 5 will soon begin their training period after having passed the last test.

The mayor announces that the body will be reinforced next year with about twenty new members.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today received 9 new Local Police officers (1 of them mobility) to be incorporated into the Police Headquarters after completing the mandatory training period at the Institute of Emergencies and Public Safety (IESPA), a center under the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administration and Interior of the Junta de Andalucía.

García Urbano, who has been accompanied by the mayor attached to the area of Local Police, Ana Velasco, explained that the commitment of the Consistory is to continue to strengthen the staff of Local Police to cover all existing positions in the organization chart, and commented that these procedures are being carried out following the maximum limits established in relation to public procurement allowed by the central government.

In this regard, he recalled that at present the City Council of Estepona has pending the incorporation of five other agents who have just passed the tests of the fifth public call for employment and will soon begin the training phase.

At the same time, the Consistory has another open call (pending publication of bases in the Official State Gazette) for the provision as career civil servants of ten places of Local Police, corresponding to the Public Employment Offer 2024 (8 places of free shift and 2 of mobility shift without promotion).

The alderman has indicated that for this government team has been a priority to provide more human resources to the Police Headquarters, thus strengthening public safety. Thus, the various public calls for employment that have been launched since 2011 have meant providing the headquarters with 34 new police positions, 4 sub-inspectors and 6 officers.

For next year, work is already underway with the forecast of incorporating about twenty new agents.

Parallel to the reinforcement of the police staff, the government team has also been renewing the material means available to the agents. In this sense, it is necessary to emphasize the reinforcement of the fleet of vehicles of the Local Police with the acquisition, this same year, of three new units. These cars join the 14 new vehicles for the fleet of the Headquarters acquired previously: five patrol cars enabled for the transfer of detainees with separation screens and other security devices; two camouflaged vehicles and four motorcycles that can be used in the city and in rural areas. In addition, two all-terrain vehicles and a personnel transport van were also acquired.

In addition, more than 164,000 Euros have been invested in the renovation and improvement of the transmission system, which allows better communication between agents, avoiding interferences and enabling them to act more quickly in the event of any warning; as well as another 78,000 Euros for the purchase of bulletproof and anti-knife vests for the staff.
