The City Council presents the program of cultural and leisure activities for Christmas

The holiday program will begin this Friday, November 29, with the lighting of the Christmas lights and will end with the traditional Cavalcade of the Three Wise Men, on January 5, departing from the Town Hall.

The Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos will be one of the main stages, with a Christmas Fair for children and families, which will feature an ice rink.

The City Council of Estepona today presented the program of cultural, festive and leisure activities organized to celebrate Christmas.

The councilor attached to the area of Culture and Festivals, Macarena Diánez, explained that numerous appointments have been scheduled for the enjoyment of young and old, most of them free, in different points, cultural spaces, streets and squares of Estepona. There will be concerts, crib contests, facades, musicals, ballets, flamenco zambombas, children’s parties, solidarity events, gastronomic festivals, or the traditional New Year’s concert.

The activities will begin this Friday, November 29, at 19:00 hours, in El Paseíllo, with the inauguration of the integral remodeling of Terraza Street, after which the Christmas lighting will be switched on. The event will be enlivened by the Children’s Choir of Christmas Carols directed by Tina Kids, winner of the Latin Grammy 2020 for best children’s music album, and the Pastorals of Estepona ‘Christmas Nostalgia’ and ‘Jesus Cautivo’. As a culmination to the official opening of the Terrace Street, at 21:30 hours you can enjoy the concert of the Sevillian singer Juanlu Montoya in the Botanical Orchid Park.

The Felipe VI Auditorium will again host a variety of performances for all audiences, including the ballet show ‘The Nutcracker’ on Sunday December 8, for the benefit of the Foundation for People with Functional Diversity of Estepona, Aprona.

Another important moment on that stage will be the traditional special Christmas concert that the Municipal Band will offer on Saturday, December 14, under the direction of Maestro José Antonio López Camacho, with the accompaniment of the Magnum Mysterium Choir of Estepona and tenor Miguel Machado Orozco, and the XXIII Christmas Proclamation organized by the 24 Hours Sports Foundation, which will be conducted by local historian José María Guerrero. In addition, this space will host on Sunday 15, the children’s show ‘Salacadula’, with a tribute to Disney songs in the key of Jazz.

The performances in the Auditorium will continue on Saturday 21 with the free Zambomba ‘From Ecija to Jerez’, one of the most typical cultural and festive customs of Andalusian folklore, with the performance of guitarist Fernando del Morao Jerez and a cast of great artists, and will continue on Saturday 28, with the show ‘The Spirit of Christmas’, a family event to benefit the Red Cross. Finally, on January 4th the traditional ‘New Year’s Concert’ will be held, with the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Julio García-Vico.

Another enclave that will have prominence during the Christmas holidays will be the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses; from December 5 to January 6 will host a Christmas Fair designed for children and adults, with ice rink, attractions, toy library and more attractions, with free admission. Also, the Plaza del Ajedrez will host the traditional ‘Santa Claus Christmas Village’, where children will be greeted by Santa Claus and can have fun with bouncy castles, workshops, artificial snowfall. It will be on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 December, from 17:00 to 21:00.

Also, as every year, returns one of the most anticipated events for citizens, as is the Cheese Fair ‘Popi, Taste of Malaga’, which will be open to the public from 12 to 15 December.

In the Plaza del Rocio will be held on Tuesday, December 17, the blessing and enthronement of the Child Jesus in the Municipal Bethlehem, at 20:00 hours.

The Padre Manuel Cultural Center will also be musical stage this Christmas, with the recital of the Belgian pianist Ben Roels, on Wednesday, December 11, and the concert of cello and piano ‘Beyond Words’, on December 20, with musicians Adriana Rojo and Angel Moya.

Christmas will also reach the suburban areas. On Tuesday, December 10, there will be a contest of typical Christmas sweets; on Friday 13, the Zambomba of Ana Soto, Baraka and company, and the School of Dance of Ana Guerrero; and on January 5, the traditional parade of the Three Kings.

For its part, Nueva Atalaya held as every year the representation of the Living Bethlehem, which will be on Saturday, December 14, at 19.30 pm, organized by the neighborhood association San Cristobal.

The events to say goodbye to 2024 will end with the New Year’s Eve Party, which will take place once again in the Plaza del Reloj, on December 31, and will feature the Perfect Band Show, free distribution of cotillion, the traditional chimes to welcome the New Year and a great fireworks display.

The program of Christmas activities will culminate with the children’s party par excellence, the Three Wise Men. The events will begin on Friday, January 3, with the delivery of letters to the Royal Postman, in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, from 17.00 to 20.00 hours, and will culminate on Sunday, January 5, with the reception for the Three Kings, from 11.00 hours in the Fair Park, and the children’s show ‘In search of the magic star’, and the great Cavalcade of the Magi, which will start from 17.00 hours. As a novelty, the parade of floats will start from the door of City Hall, on Avenida Juan Carlos I, and end at the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, where children can deliver their letters to the Three Kings.
