The City Council undertakes the repair and reinforcement of a coastal corridor wall affected by the effects of the storms.

The 74,000 euro project will provide stability to the concrete wall built in the section between La Chimenea and Playa Bella.

The Estepona City Council has put out to tender the necessary work to restore stability to a wall located in the stretch of coastal corridor that connects La Chimenea with Playa Bella. The structure was affected by the damage caused by successive storms.

The section, which was inaugurated in 2015, has a 325-meter-long wooden walkway and has 320 meters. In its execution, a concrete retaining wall was built due to the clearing tasks that had to be carried out. The passing of the years and the effects of sea storms have been causing damages that, although they were repaired in a previous intervention, now need a reinforcement action due to the harsh effects of the waves.

The base bid price has been set at 74,099 euros (VAT included). The execution period for the works, once the contract has been awarded and signed, has been estimated at one and a half months.

The Estepona coastal corridor is more than 90% completed. A few months ago, the City Council installed the last of the 17 large wooden bridges included in the project. Specifically, it was placed in the section corresponding to the area of El Saladillo. Work also continues on the Benamara and El Saladillo sections.

After the actions carried out in recent months, the City Council has already reached more than 21 kilometers of constructed coastal corridor, being already very close to reach the end of this sustainable project and of great impact for the city that has meant preserving the coastline putting it in value and enabling a new tourist attraction.
