The Estepona Fair begins with the opening speech by Carlos Moreno ‘El Pulpo’ and the inauguration of the Fairgrounds.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, highlighted “the affection and connection that the communicator has with the city” and announced the proposal to the Plenary of the Corporation for his appointment as Adopted Son of Estepona.
The Estepona City Council has organized an extensive program of activities to enjoy these days. The Caseta Municipal will host until Sunday free concerts by artists Cepeda, Maria Pelae, Bertin Osborne, Nyno Vargas and Laura Gallego.
The Fair and Festivities of Estepona began last night with the traditional lighting of the Fair Park and the proclamation of the fair, by Carlos Moreno ‘El Pulpo’. The communicator, linked to the city for more than four decades, reviewed his experiences in the city throughout a story full of emotions, feelings and memories.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, highlighted “the affection and connection he has with the city” and announced the proposal to the Plenary of the Corporation for his appointment as Adopted Son of Estepona. “Estepona must be loved for being a magnificent city, full of life, and also a city that knows how to love all those who carry in their hearts the essence of this wonderful place, which has managed to combine tradition and future; roots and prosperity,” he said.
The event took place in the renovated Avenida de España and featured a performance by the Lourdes Bazán flamenco group.
The Fair Park began its activities last night, headed by the programming designed in the Municipal Caseta, which will host during these days free concerts by artists of different musical styles such as Cepeda, Maria Pelae, Bertin Osborne, Nyno Vargas and Laura Gallego; as well as local artists and musical groups.
Today the day of the Fair is dedicated to the little ones, who can enjoy a children’s party at 19:00 hours with the Electroñecos Peque Show, in the Caseta Municipal. In addition, it will be Children’s Day and the attractions will have a 50 percent discount.
On Thursday, July 6, will take place the Party for Seniors in the Municipal Booth, and will be enlivened by the performance of the copla singer Laura Gallego. That same day, from 18.00 to 21.00 hours, the attractions area will remain without music so that people with extreme sensitivity to loud sounds can also enjoy the fair.
On the other hand, horse lovers will be able to enjoy on Sunday, July 9, the VI Concurso de Enjaezado a la Andaluza. It will take place in the Paseo de Caballos of the fairgrounds and will be awarded to the best dressed horses and riders in each category: Young Rider, Veteran Rider, Couple, Amazon and Rider. On Saturday, July 8, from 18 to 20 hours there will be a free horse-drawn carriage ride, stopping in front of the Caseta Municipal.
Also on Sunday, the city will host the traditional fair bullfight, which this year will feature an exceptional line-up. Six bulls from the prestigious Núñez del Cuvillo ranch will be fought by the top bullfighting stars Morante, Talavante and Roca Rey.
