The Seville team is proclaimed champion of Andalusian Climbing in School Age in the climbing wall of Estepona.

The event was held this weekend and gathered 120 Andalusian climbers.

Estepona City Council reports that the newly opened climbing wall of the fairgrounds and sports has been the scene this weekend of the Final Phase of CADEBA Climbing, a competition that has brought together the individual competitions of Difficulty, Speed and Block and the Provincial Selections, championship in which computed the points of Difficulty and Block. In this test, Seville has been the dominant selection to get most of the podiums and points, proclaiming clearly Champion of Andalusia with 1,969 points, followed by Malaga (1,565) and Huelva (1,496), in a tough competition for second place.

It is worth mentioning the enormous work done by the organization team of the Grupo de Montaña de Estepona (GRUME), the team of ‘equipadores’ and the referees, and the great collaboration of the City Council of Estepona and the sponsorship of the Diputación de Málaga.

On Saturday the Speed and Difficulty competitions took place. In the first one, developed in the impressive wall of speed of Estepona’s climbing wall, the individual regional titles went to Abel Acosta (Seville) and Lucia Villalba Morillo (Huelva) in children, and Lucas Villalba Morillo (Huelva) and Lucia Marchena (Huelva) in cadets; while in Difficulty the victory went to David Reyes Haro (Seville) and Sofia Vlaicu (Malaga) in children, and Aitor Amaya Lopez (Seville) and Noa Persson Fernandez (Malaga) in cadets.

For Sunday was the discipline of Block, in which the titles went to David Reyes Haro (Seville) and Sofia Vlaicu (Malaga) in children, and Aitor Amaya Lopez (Seville) and Africa Piédrola Sanchez (Seville) in cadets.

The final individual Mixed podiums (Block and Difficulty) were as follows:

– Infantil Male: David Reyes Haro (Seville, 200 points), Abel Acosta Carramolino (Seville, 160 points) and Nico Amaya Lopez (Seville, 116 points).

– Female Infantil: Sofía Vlaicu (Málaga, 200 points), Marta España Reyes (Almería, 145 points) and Alejandra Ríos (Málaga, 120 points) and Lola Navarro Lucena (Córdoba, 120 points).

– Male Cadet: Aitor Amaya Lopez (Seville, 200 points), Lucas Marquez Aparicio (Cadiz, 131 points) and Aimar Delariberette Aznar (Almeria, 123 points).

– Female Cadet: Africa Piédrola Sánchez (Seville, 180 points) and Noa Persson Fernández (Málaga, 180 points), tied for first place, and Inés Romero Morales (Seville, 120 points).

At the conclusion of the block competition on Sunday was held the closing ceremony and awards ceremony, which was attended by the Councillor for Sports, Luis Gil Amores, along with the president of the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES), Maria Luz Arráez Hidalgo, and the president of GRUME, Francisco Luis Jimenez Rodriguez.

María Luz Arráez said that “from the federation is already a reality that we have a very important base of climbers in these early ages. They practice their sport from the age of five or six and have come here to compete in an Andalusian championship to prove that they are good at their sport.” “We must take into account that during the week they go to their own climbing schools and train climbing, which is their sport, an Olympic sport that is also becoming a daily and very practiced by climbers from a very early age,” said the president of the FADMES.
