The City Council puts out to tender the operation of the Mercado de Abastos as a new space for hotels, restaurants and product sales.

The Estepona Town Hall has opened the tender for the concession of the building of the market of supplies, with all its facilities and dependencies, for the economic exploitation of the building as a commercial establishment, hotel, catering, and sale of products, as well as any other compatible uses and activities authorized under applicable law.
The City Council of Estepona wants to develop the possibilities of the building of the Municipal Market of Abastos, through the exploitation of the property, which represent a definitive boost to trade in an area that is in continuous process of revitalization, as is the historic center of our municipality. Therefore, for this new concession we are committed to a definitive and quality project.
The property, of 950 square meters, has an unbeatable location, in Villa Street, in the heart of the town center.
The concession will be for a period of 20 years. The minimum annual fee to be received by the City Council has been set at 83,362.16 euros. The bid with the highest fee will be selected.
The successful bidder will be obliged to adopt the measures and carry out the necessary actions to ensure that the facilities meet each and every one of the legal requirements for the operation of the building, in accordance with the purpose of the concession, without the Town Council assuming any cost or responsibility whatsoever. Likewise, the operation will be carried out by the awarded businessman, with assumption by the same of the profits and losses of the operation, and without, therefore, the Consistory assumes any risk.
The Estepona Market was built in 1949 and operated as a traditional market until 2018, when it was subjected to a comprehensive reform for use as a hotel and commercial establishment.
The proposals, along with the mandatory documentation, have a deadline for submission until April 1.
