The City Council kicks off the third edition of “Compartiendo Culturas” with international celebrations this fall

The municipal program will once again bring together residents and visitors to enjoy the cuisine, music, traditions, and crafts of the city’s various foreign communities

The Estepona City Council announces the launch of the third edition of the “Compartiendo Culturas” project, a municipal program aimed at promoting integration, mutual understanding, and harmonious coexistence among the different nationalities that make up the city.

Estepona is home to residents of 135 different nationalities, who represent approximately 32 percent of the registered population. In this context, this initiative offers a meeting space where different communities can share their culture, traditions, cuisine, music, crafts, and other aspects unique to their countries of origin with the general public.

The program, organized in collaboration with associations and groups of foreign residents, will continue throughout this fall with new celebrations dedicated to different countries. The first events of this new edition will take place in September on the Paseo Marítimo, near the Monument to the Peseta, and will feature the Italian, British, and Ukrainian communities.

The first event will be Italian Culture Day, to be held on Saturday, September 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., featuring musical performances, cultural activities, and culinary offerings.

On Saturday, September 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., British Day will take place, featuring live music, dance performances, and market and food stalls.

Finally, on Sunday, September 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Ukraine Day will be celebrated, also on the Paseo Marítimo, with a craft market, master classes, traditional cuisine, and a gala concert featuring Ukrainian artists and groups from the Costa del Sol.

Begoña Ortiz, the councilwoman for the Outlying Areas department, noted that “Sharing Cultures” represents “a commitment to coexistence and to continuing to strengthen the bonds between the different communities that make up Estepona. “Each celebration allows us to better understand other cultures and discover the richness that each one brings to our city.”

The City Council will continue to publicize the various events that will make up the “Sharing Cultures” program this fall, thereby reinforcing an initiative that transforms Estepona’s cultural diversity into an opportunity to share, get to know one another, and live together.
