The City Council organizes a free camp to provide digital skills to children and teenagers during the summer

The camp will last one week and will be free of charge. It is aimed at children and teenagers from 9 to 17 years old.

The Estepona City Council informs that the registration period for the Digital Summer Camp aimed at providing digital skills to children and adolescents between 9 and 17 years old is now open. It will run from June 23 to September 5 and will last one week. Each shift will have a maximum of 15 students who will acquire knowledge about the use of the Internet and digital tools in a useful, creative, safe and responsible way.

Like the camp held during Semana Blanca and Semana Santa, this new action will be carried out thanks to the collaboration agreement between the Consistory and the Fundación CiberVoluntarios. The workshop is free, with DigComp certificate, and consists of a total of 12 teaching hours. It will be held in the computer room of the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, with contents and activities adapted to each age group, from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. In this way, children from 9 to 11 years old will learn skills such as how to search for information safely or how to distinguish fake news. Children from 12 to 13 years old will learn about applications for a responsible use of technology and will receive advice on how to prevent cyberbullying. Finally, teenagers aged 14 to 17 will learn about tools to enhance their employability or the use of artificial intelligence, among others.

Participants will also receive advice on how to control their time in front of screens, learn how to protect their privacy and the rules of behavior on social networks, how to filter and search for information more effectively, as well as how to detect and prevent cyberbullying.
